Everyone is so supportive of each other, and it is a great environment to learn and grow
Charlotte – Practice Development Nurse
Tell us about your role and what you do within Cohese Healthcare
I started with Cohese Healthcare two months ago as the Practice Development Nurse. My role involves supporting our Clinical Matron to facilitate a positive learning environment in the workplace where staff development is encouraged and supported. I hope to be able to act as a role model for all staff, providing advice, guidance and support in clinical practice. I have over twenty years’ experience as a Registered Nurse, and I hope that my clinical experience, along with empowering clinical teams will help to ensure that patient care is delivered to the highest standards of care, utilising research and evidence-based practice.
What do you like most about your role?
I am extremely passionate about learning, and I enjoy sharing my experiences with others. I love the idea of developing others and helping people to achieve their goals. I love the variety that comes with my role, and thoroughly enjoy clinical visits where I get to meet patients, relatives and staff. I believe that you never stop learning and that we can all learn from each other. I truly hope that staff feel that I am approachable, and my long-term goal is to support them as best I can to ensure that they feel they can develop in a positive environment where there is a commitment to quality, safety and patient experience. We truly work together to provide the best possible care to our patients, and I feel really proud to know that we are making a difference
Tell us something interesting about yourself that most of us won’t know
In my previous role as a School Immunisation Nurse, I developed a social story using minimal written words and focussing on pictures to help to reassure children with additional learning needs and their teachers about the immunisation process. This is an area I feel extremely passionate about as my son is autistic and I had used social stories previously. My story is now being used trust wide in my local NHS trust. I feel extremely proud to have been able to make a difference to these children and their families.
