What is a Dermatofibroma?

A dermatofibroma is a small, benign (non-cancerous) skin growth that often appears as a firm lump on the skin, commonly on the legs, arms, or torso. They can vary in colour from pink to brown and may feel firm or slightly raised.

While dermatofibromas are harmless in most cases, some patients choose dermatofibroma treatment or removal if the lesion becomes irritated, changes in appearance, or is cosmetically concerning. In some cases, they may also be mistaken for other skin conditions, which is why a professional assessment is important.

  • Harmless, non-cancerous growth
  • Common on arms or legs
  • Can occur after an insect bite or scratch

Professional Dermatofibroma Removal Treatment

Your dermatofibroma removal treatment begins with a thorough clinical assessment to confirm the diagnosis and determine the most appropriate treatment option. Our experienced clinicians will clearly explain the procedure and answer any questions you may have.

Dermatofibroma removal is typically a minor procedure conducted under local anaesthetic to ensure comfort. The lesion is carefully removed, and the area is treated to best support healing and minimise scarring where possible.

The procedure is usually quick, and most patients can return to normal activities shortly afterwards. We also provide full aftercare guidance to support recovery and ensure the best possible outcome. Our aim is to make dermatofibroma removal safe, simple, and reassuring from start to finish.

FAQs

If you can’t find the answer you are looking for here then please get in touch

Cohese Healthcare is not a GP Practice but as an NHS partner, we organise clinics in GP Practices that mean people do not have to travel and attend hospital.

Please allow up to 1 hour for your appointment. This will depend on any investigations that you may require. We ask that you attend 10 mins before your appointment time. You will be given any specific instructions in advance of your appointment.

If you are having an ultrasound scan, this will be carried out by a Sonographer. You may also see a Urology specialist who will discuss any test results and treatment options with you. They are supported in clinic by experienced Healthcare Assistants.

Yes, full payment is required in advance to confirm your appointment. You’re welcome to make multiple smaller payments at your convenience. Once the total amount has been received, we will proceed with securing your booking.

If you plan to claim the cost of your procedure from your private medical insurer, we advise getting prior confirmation from them in advance as full payment is required at the time of booking.

Lipomas larger than 5cm cannot be removed by our service. However, if you send details via the enquiry form, including 2 images of the lesion that that you would like removed on, our surgeons can let you know if removal will be possible in our service.

You will receive a consultation summary with details of your consultation; this will also be sent to your GP. If you are referred for further investigations, we will send you a letter with the relevant contact details.

Yes, you will be able to drive following your procedure unless you have had surgery close to your eyes. We would advise you to arrange to have someone to drive you home if this is the case.

It is very likely that you will be able to have a lesion removed. Your surgeon will ask you about procedures you have had previously and they will then be able to discuss what you could expect if you were to have your skin lesion removed.

You can eat and drink normally before your appointment. If you wish to bring a drink or snack with you to your appointment, please do so.

The cost of dermatofibroma removal depends on factors such as the size, location, and complexity of the lesion. Prior to your consultation, we will provide clear and transparent pricing, so you will understand the full cost before proceeding with treatment.

Our goal is to provide safe, affordable dermatofibroma treatment with no hidden fees.

Dermatofibroma removal is usually performed under local anaesthetic, meaning you should not feel pain during the procedure. Some mild soreness, tenderness, or swelling may occur afterwards, but this typically settles within a few days. Full aftercare instructions will be provided to support comfortable healing.

Choosing a trusted clinical provider for dermatofibroma removal is important to ensure safe diagnosis and effective treatment. Attempting to remove skin lesions yourself can increase the risk of infection, scarring, or incomplete removal.

At Cohese Healthcare, all procedures are conducted in a regulated medical environment by trained professionals. We provide:

  • Qualified medical practitioners
  • Clear diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Convenient booking options
  • Transparent self-pay pricing
  • Full supportive aftercare
