Claire – Minor Surgery Service Lead

Tell us about your role and what you do within Cohese Healthcare

I joined Cohese Healthcare in May 2019 as a Healthcare Assistant working in our DVT, Urology and Minor Surgery clinics helping patients during their appointments. I am one of three Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) at Cohese Healthcare alongside my current role of Service Lead for our self-paying Minor Surgery service which provides the removal of lesions such as cysts, lipomas and skin tags that are no longer funded on the NHS due to them being cosmetic. No two days are ever the same and I love the variety it brings.

What do you like most about your role?

Whilst managing the overall daily running of the minor surgery service I get to interact with our fabulous teams including the Patient Support Team, our Service Leads, the HCAs, Operations teams, Subcontractors as well as patients who use our service and the premises, we run clinics out of. It’s a varied role with lots of moving parts to keep me busy but mostly I get to provide a great service for patients whilst building relationships with people I work with, and this helps with my MHFA role.

Tell us something interesting about yourself that most of us won’t know

The majority of my time is spent with my family and friends. We are keen seasoned campers and are currently working our way around the various campsites testing them out. If we aren’t camping, we are planning our next trip. As a family we love nothing more than sitting around the campfire, lake (if we aren’t paddleboarding on it) and generally being outdoors on adventures embracing the beauty and calm that nature brings.
